MermaidsUK can upskill Mermaid Instrucors to become qualified Mermaid and Mono Fin Instructors through the NEW STA Level 2 qualification.

Who can upskill?
Certified Mermaid Instructors can upskill to gain the Level 2 Qualification via our STA Mermaid and Mono Fin Tutors. The upskill is available to Mermaid Instructors who have previously undertaken a Mermaid Instrutor CPD Course. The upskill process involves completing the below which is set out by the STA;
Two session plans
Two session evaluation forms
Risk Assessment
MCQ assessment paper (pass mark 4/5)
A practical assessment of delivering a 20 minute mermaid session (4 participants)
Being a member of STA (https://www.sta.co.uk/membership-2/)
What are the costs of upskilling?
MermaidsUK feels it is important to work with current Mermaid Instructors to ensure they are providing the safetst possible Mermaid sessions to the UK market. The upskill costs below include a hard copy of the new STA Mermaid and Mono Fin manual and your qualification certificate emailed to you by the STA.
Upskill between now and the end of March for just £50, as long as you are a member of MermaidsUK (cost £24 per year)
Upskill between now and the end of March for £90 without being a member of MermaidsUK
Upskill after March for £125

How can I upskill?
You can upskill by joining a registered course run by MermaidsUK or via distance learning, where all assessment coursework will need to be emailed and a video sent in for the practical part of the assessment.
If you wish to upskill, please email instructors@mermaidsswimuk.co.uk along with your current Mermaid Instructor certificate and chosen upskilling method.
If an Instructor does not upskill they will NOT be a Qualified Mermaid Instructor, due to the STA Level 2 Mermaid and Mono Fin qualification being the first in the UK.
